GARDEN OF LIFE PALM BEACHES MARATHON WON’T BE RUN IN 2020

Full Race Event, including Sun Run 5k, returning December 11-12, 2021

The Garden of Life Palm Beaches Marathon presented by Jupiter Medical Center Foundation, scheduled to be held in Downtown West Palm Beach December 11-13, 2020, will not be run this year as a precaution against Covid-19 spread.  The complete event will return to the streets on December 11-12, 2021 and Garden of Life will remain as the title sponsor.

“Because everyone’s health, safety and wellness is always our highest priority, we have made the decision not to run the 2020 Garden of Life Palm Beaches Marathon,” said Garden of Life President Brian Ray. “However, we’re looking forward to bringing everyone back together again for an amazing in-person event in 2021.”

Registered runners have the option to participate in a virtual event, defer their race entry to the 2021 event, or donate their race entry fee to Special Olympics Florida, the official race beneficiary.

“Of course we are disappointed, but this was the right decision to make,” Race Owner Kenneth R. Kennerly said. “We had to make this decision as early as possible since we have runners coming from all over the world. It is in the best interest of the running community. We are continuing the tradition of the Palm Beaches Marathon in December with a virtual event.”

A Virtual Palm Beaches Marathon presented by the Jupiter Medical Center Foundation will be held in place of the originally scheduled event throughout December 2020.

Runners participating in the virtual race will run at their own place and time in December. Participants will receive a race shirt, finisher medal, virtual race bib and finisher certificate. Virtual runners will also be invited to participate in interactive Zoom sessions with experts on running-related topics (nutrition, injury prevention) prior to the virtual race.

Garden of Life, a Palm Beach Gardens-based natural supplements company, is in the first year of a three-year agreement to serve as the title sponsor of The Palm Beaches Marathon.  Special Olympics Florida, the official race beneficiary, will still receive a generous financial contribution from Garden of Life despite the cancellation of the 2020 event.
